Hello everyone!
This week, I'm going to talk to you about the very sensitive subject of MOTIVATION.
How can you stay motivated to learn, whatever the circumstances?
It's not easy to be motivated, and yet....in some fields, we're hyper-motivated. But why?
Do we need the carrot to stay motivated? It works in the short term, but it's not enough to stay motivated in the long term.
Here are a few keys to get you and your children thinking about the thought mechanisms that affect our motivation:
1st key: Giving meaning
Asking questions about what we're doing or learning is essential. In this way, we can better concretize and understand why and for what purpose we are learning this or that? We all need to know why it will be useful for us to learn this or that... How am I going to make this learning my own?
2nd key: Set a clear objective
Use the SMART method to get to the heart of your learning needs. The aim is to define it clearly and precisely, so that it is :
Specific / Measurable / Achievable / Realistic / Timely
3rd key: Link this learning to our values
Motivation speaks to our values. What will this learning experience provoke in me? What emotions do I feel? Why do I prefer maths to French, or French to maths? What's important to me?
As you can see, it's all about understanding what this learning experience will bring me, and what I'm going to do with it?
As a pedagogue, I think it's also a question of how we approach the subject and convey emotions to the pupil or learner: living it from the inside with passion helps the child, teenager or adult to find his or her intrinsic motivation! It's also through relationships, communication and sharing that we transmit strong values that act as a lever for motivation. Let's make our values real, listen to our needs and put learning into practice to give meaning to our lives, so you'll find yourself on the road to success!
With passion,
Anne Laure
